Tilly's name was Ottilie Ethel Leopoldine Losch.
She was almost certainly an Austrian by birth, born in Vienna in 1903.
Tilly's birthday was 15 November.
Her father was Otto Emil Losch, who worked in a bank.
Her mother was Eugenie ( Eugena) Dreucker or Druker.
Tilly had several siblings.
Tilly was married twice, first in 1931 to the eccentric artist, Edward James ( divorced 1934 ), second in 1939 to Henry Herbert, Sixth Earl of Carnarvon, ( divorced 1947).
Tilly had no surviving children.
Tilly Losch died on 24 December 1975, in New York from cancer.
Tilly's tombstone in the grounds of Leopoldskron Castle, near Salzburg, Austria, records her birth and death details followed by the words
" DANCER, ACTRESS, ARTIST"
